| Heist films work when the plan is interesting enough that you want to see how it's executed, and the best ones make the audience complicit by letting them in on the mechanics. What separates the great ones from the forgettable is usually the complication — the moment the plan goes wrong and the characters have to improvise. Films based on real financial fraud are a different category because the tension comes from the gap between what the audience knows and what the victims don't. There's a discussion on https://gambleszen.com.de about storytelling that makes complex schemes comprehensible without oversimplifying — the point about revealing mechanics being the pleasure was well-made. Which one stood out?
